Adventures in the Outback is a collection of short stories and one poem inspired by the author’s time in the outback of Queensland and New South Wales, tutoring young people doing their schooling via Schools of the Air and home-schooling. The stories include many of the things common to these youngsters but not to those living in cities or big regional towns. Experience life on these outback properties where sometimes the unexpected happens and wonderful friendships are formed.
There aren’t many stories that feature children who live on rural properties, and the stories in Adventures in the Outback give a great snapshot of what life would be like on a number of properties.
Through these stories, readers will meet a number of young people living on remote properties. These kids go on fantastic adventures, from finding fossils and stopping poachers to saving someone from a flooding creek.
Each story is accompanied by a gorgeous illustration by Ester de Boer.
Young readers will enjoy these adventures in their own back yard and learning a bit more about Australia.
